In This Our Lives : The Reunion is an inspiring documentary that gives testimony to the struggles and triumphs of Black Gay men in the UK over the past twenty years

In This Our Lives: The Reunion is a dynamic multilayered documentary that commemorates the 20th anniversary of the first and only National Black Gay Men’s conference in the UK, which took place in London in October, 1987.

This is a landmark film. Honest, intimate and at times beautiful the men articulate experiences that are rarely heard in public and almost never recorded before. The film progresses from, what at first might be considered a localised and very British experience into a meditation on memory and history. The experience of watching the film takes you to the heart of the moment.

I am in the process of completing the film which needs some re-editing, new titles, a sound mix and a high standard transfer to Digibeta (Digital tape) so it can meet Festival screening standards. I need to raise £ 3000. I need to raise this money by March 16th 2009.

For this I am asking individuals to donate between £10 and £50. I hope that at least 30-40 people might be able to spare a small sum. For this every donor will receive a free DVD of the film later this year. If you are able to help support rukus! in this endeavour it would be no small thing and will be an example of how we as a community can come together.
