Ajamu is a practicing fine art photographer/lens based media artist. His practice specialises in black male portraits, self- portraits and studio based constructed imagery. The work has been shown in galleries, museums and alternative spaces throughout the world including, New York, Sao Paulo, London, Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam. He has participated in numerous public lectures, panels, workshops and works have been published in a wider variety of publications/journals and advertising campaigns worldwide. Ajamu has been active within the Black Lesbian Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community for over 14 years as an activist, trainer, Project Manager and exhibition organiser. He has delivered various projects on a freelance basis and in a volunteer capacity within and outside the field of sexual health. He has built up a sizable network within and beyond the BLGBT community which includes artists, activists, club promoters, sexual health promoters, event manager’s advocates/stakeholders and organisations who are responsible for managing the development and delivery of projects and interventions aimed at the Black LGBT community. He has served on various committees in an advisory capacity including the London Arts Board, Pride Arts Festival, The Gay Business Association and Proud Heritage. Ajamu is currently working on his first book, based on his research from The Queens Jewels Exhibition
Topher Campbell is a filmmaker, theatre director and Out Black Gay Activist. He has directed plays at numerous theatres across the country including West Yorkshire Playhouse, Young Vic, London, Derby Playhouse, Contact Theatre, Manchester, Talawa Theatre, London and Leicester Haymarket. His films The Homecoming and Mulatto Song have been screened worldwide. As Diversity Director for BBC Radio Drama he established the Norman Beaton Fellowship. As a television director he spent two years directing Doctors and has also directed numerous radio dramas. In 2000 alongside radical photographer Ajamu he set up rukus! Federation Ltd (www.rukus.co.uk). A company dedicated to presenting the best in work by Black Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual, Transgender (BLGBT) artists. rukus! latest projects include The Queens Jewels a BLGBT history exhibition, Fire This Time a day of BLGBT films, debates and performance, a launch party at the ICA, Doin the Low in association with the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival and the Launch of Funny by US Black Gay author Steven Fullwood. As writer Topher has written articles for Sable, AXM Magazine and Gay Times on Black Gay contemporary life and history. He has also been featured in the Guardian, the Stage and Broadcast. Also Topher is a recipient of the 2005 Jerwood Directors Award. He is currently a Programmer for the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival and artistic director of THE RED ROOM theatre and film company. ( www.theredroom.org.uk )
